Ripe Market: Good Food and Great Vibes

I’m a sucker for open-air markets and there’s no better way to take advantage of Dubai’s breezy autumn than head for the Ripe Market in Dubai. The Saturday iteration is based in Al Barsha Pond Park every Saturday where the market plays host to stalls from local restaurants, artists, designers and live music from local acts (which I had a privilege of being part of), there were even yoga classes taking place towards the end-corner of the market as well which you could sign up for.

My personal favorite was the sand art corner, where children and adults alike could fill up their favorite pictures with colored sand (a great throwback for 90s kids like myself) and a few gorgeous painting stalls that were set up by talented local artists. There was an electic mix of food stalls from Fume to The Hot Dog Company – I had a chance to try the Kale-Ribbean Breeze (AED 25) from Jamba Juice – it was a winning combination for me where the sweetness of the mango and passion fruit complemented the bitterness of the kale without really overpowering it, it was super hydrating after a long walk around the park!

The fact that the market is spread out across the central wing of the park gives it a more spacious feel compared to similar events such as Truckers Dubai. You’ll know where to find me next weekend – as long as the breezy weather lasts :).

*Ripe Market takes place in Za’abeel Park every Friday and Al Barsha Ponk Park every Saturday, visit for more details. Jamba Juice can also be found at Kite Beach, Jumeirah, visit to know more.
